Regarding Finality of the Prophethood of Muhammad (pbuh) (3)

Question:
I had various discussions with Ahmadis on the different occasions on the subject of finality of prophet hood. It is alleged that Ahmadis do not believe in the Holy Prophet Muhammad saw to be Khataman Nabiyyeen. This is based on a gross misrepresentation of the Ahmadiyya views and At the very outset I would like to state categorically that Ahmadis believe the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of God be upon him) to be Khataman Nabiyyeen - Seal of the Prophets, as has been stated in the Holy Qur’an and it is an awful fabrication against the Ahmadis that they do not believe in the doctrine of Khatm-i-Nabuwwat. The difference is only in interpretation of the title and not in the title itself.

Ahmadis believe, and many earlier Muslim scholars nave the same understanding, that the understanding of Khatm-i-Nubuwwat doesn’t mean that new prophets wouldn’t come. Why don’t you then believe in that same understanding?

Please note my intention is not to open any debate or dialogue as I am a humble student of Qur’an but my sincere effort is to understand the truth behind the walls, as so far their interpretation seems quite convincing and inline in light of Qur’an.

Response:
The meanings of Khatam is the seal that blocks, stops, and prevents things from entering, like khatama ala qulubihim etc. Thus Khatamannabiyyin would mean the one who has put the seal stoppage on the process of prophets.

It doesn’t matter what some scholars have said about the meanings of certain verses. We must try to understand Qur’an the way it is ourselves logically. If Qur’an is telling us, as you say, that more prophets would come, why doesn’t it say who those prophets are going to be? When the prophets were coming from God, their mention was being made in the earlier books so that the later people don’t find it difficult to accept them. That’s why the people of the Book, according to Qur’an, recognized the prophet “the same way as they recognized their own children.” If Qur’an has completed the Din and prophets were to come after the revelation of it, why doesn’t that Din-completing book not mention the prophets believing in whom was important for success in the hereafter?

And if you say that it was not essential to believe in prophets for success in the hereafter, then I am not interested in this discussion.
