Tableeghi Jama'at

Question:
Is it Biddah to go out with the tableeghi jamaat 3 days or 40 days etc, they say it's the way of the prophet to call people to deen so it is a duty of every muslim. They also read alot of weak and fabricated ahadith but the overall effect the atmosphere has on a person is good. So should I join these people without any worry of falling into Biddah?

Response:
To claim that the prophet, alaihissalaam, used to call people to the way of God as the tablighi jama’at people do is incorrect. Most of the stuff they describe in their speeches is unauthentic. By joining tablighi jama’at one falls into the prey of i) ignoring Qur’an, ii) ignoring one’s family, and iii) blindly following what the elders are saying. However, there are a few good things one learns from them too. One has to decide about one’s affiliation with a religious group on the basis of one’s understanding if on the balance they are helping one to come close to the true message of God or not. I have never been fascinated by what they do. You should try to experience what they are doing by joining them in one of their trips and then decide about them. Good luck! Allah Hafiz.
