Should we miss our prayers if we are not mindful of Allah?

Question:
The Qur'an says:

Pray at specific times (4:103 ) to be mindful of Allah (20:14)...this prohibits you from evil and vice (29:45).

Does it mean that one must pray only if mindful of Allah and eschew evil and vice?

Similarly, when the Qur'an commands to practice fasting so that we become Muttaqi (2:183), a Muttaqi being one who lives by the Qur'an (2:2), are we only required to fast only if you are becoming Muttaqi and are living by the Qur'an?

Response:
We must pray and fast as Muslims because it is an order from the Almighty for us to do so. However, the two expectations from us are not without their respective objectives. We must pray under all circumstances and while we pray we should try our best to be mindful of what we are doing and saying. If we keep saying our prayers that way, we'll certainly be helped in staying away from what is obscene and objectionable. If it is not happening that way, there is something wrong in the way we are praying. We should worry about it and correct the manner in which we are praying. However, praying we must continue under all circumstances, because it is the Almighty's injunction and our only hope that we will be reformed. If we leave it, we'll go straight into the hands of Satan.

Likewise is true for fasting.
