Should the beard be at least of fist-length?

Question:
Why is a fist-length beard considered obligatory on those who desire to follow the Sunnah of the prophet?

Response:
A beard should appear like a beard. There is nothing else that one can add to the description, except for the fact that it should look good. There are no specifications or lengths mentioned in the Shari'ah, although scholars do talk about the above mentioned stipulation quite often. I have never been able to understand their arguments.
