Ahmadis's Claim That I Believe in the Coming of a Prophet
Question:
You have mentioned: "Seal of prophets could only mean two things: prophet-hood has been sealed, completed, and finished or prophet, alaihissalaam, is the seal in the sense that everyone else will come with his seal, authority, and confirmation."
Which meaning according to you is the right one? And If possible make a video on this topic and upload it on youtube, because Ahmadies try to quote you as if you believe that Prophets can keep coming. They specially quote your video on a verse of Surah Al Nisa
Response:
I believe Khatme Nubuwwat in the first sense: no prophet -- none whatsoever -- will come after prophet Muhammad, alaihissalaam.
I have done several programs on Aaj TV's Safare Hidayat on the rejection of the claim that Mirza Sahib was a prophet. Unfortunately, there are people in almost all religious groups who think that they can serve their faith by resorting to unethical ways. The same seems to be true for some Ahmadis. If they are trying to put into my mouth what I have never said nor do I believe in it, what can I do about it?
I personally tried to look at the Ahmadi point of view with an open mind long time ago. I never wanted to stay away from believing in someone who was claiming to be a prophet and was genuinely one. I was never impressed by the religious people who used foul language against Ahmadis and their religious leader. In fact, the atrocities they had to unfortunately go through in the 1970s inclined me to be sympathetic towards them. As indeed the recent madness unleashed at their religious places in Lahore has again caused me to be sympathetic towards them. I even visited Rabwah in the late 1980s and had a discussion with one of their Murabbis.
My differences with the Ahmadis therefore do not have an emotional basis. It is against my religious understanding to reject a claim simply because I find it incompatible with my emotional disposition. It's just that I find no convincing basis in the Ahmadi claims.
I am interested in engaging in discussions with Ahmadis to let them know politely that their claim is incorrect. Of course, I am always open to corrections, just in case if I have missed some point.
