Turban and Camel: Sunnah?

Question:
Is wearing a turban (pagri) a sunnah?

Response:
Wearing a turban belongs to the same category as riding a camel: both were done by the prophet, alaihisslaam, but both were never introduced by him as a part of religion. Anyone who introduces a turban as a part of sunnah should also introduce riding camels as a sunnah too. In fact, the list of such practices would be long: curing through the medicines of those times, going for the call of nature to outside the towns, using swords during wars etc. It is a gross misrepresentation of Islam and sunnah to mention such practices of the prophet which had to do with the peculiar circumstances of his time and environment to include them in the message of Islam. And Allah knows the best.
