Animal sacrifice is non-obligatory

Question:
Is my wife, who is not a working woman, hence does not earn, but does have wealth in the form of gold, obligated to offer the qurbani on eid?

Response:
Doing animal sacrifice at the time of Eidul Azha is a non-obligatory ibadat with great spiritual rewards. Anyone who can afford to do it, should be encouraged to do it. The one who doesn't, despite ability, is not going to be a sinner. He/she is going to be deprived of a great oppportunity to earn rewards from the Almighty.
