Bathing on Fridays

Question:
In one of the recent ahadith, you had mentioned that it is compulsory for any human being who has attained puberty to take bath on Friday. Could you please elaborate on this a little more as to why such is a requirement in Islam?

Response:
The answer to this question has been given in another hadith of Bukhari by Ayesha, Allah's mercy be on her thus: "I asked 'Amra about taking a bath on Fridays. She replied, "'Aisha said, 'The people used to work (for their livelihood) and whenever they went for the Jumu’ah prayer, they used to go to the mosque in the same shape as they had been in work. So they were asked to take a bath on Friday.' "
