Rejecting Rituals

Question:
I donot find my attention 100% in prayers as they are. What should I do? I mean, prayers are for my benefit, not for the benefit of Almighty. So it should be upto me to determine my own best suitable way of worshiping Almighty.

Response:
You have every right to determine how you should worship God if you didn't know how He wanted you to worship Him. Once you know how He has required you to worship Him why would you devise your own way? What logic would convince you that your way is better than the one He has suggested? You may say that it would be your feelings that would decide if the method you have adopted is better suited for you than what the Almighty has suggested. That would mean that you believe feelings are decisive. The fact is that even though feelings are important, without a guiding light, either of intellect or divine revelation, feelings can be seriously misleading.

The fact is that one should be thankful and satisfied on learning that God has Himself prescribed a certain way of worshipping Him. One should then look for satisfaction through what the Almighty has prescribed.
