About Shirk
Question:
Shirk is the greatest of all sins as per the teachings of the Holy Quran and Sunnah. It is one sin that is completrly unforgiveable. Although a lot of us do say their prayers but at the same time do indulge in shirk by undertaking activitiies such as God forbid seeking help from the dead faqirs by going to their mazars and justifying it by saying we are only going there for aqeedat or saying that we think they are our waseelas. May Allah give us the insight to realise the cruelty we are doing to ourselves by indulging in such activities. May I add that the activities which many of us indulge in at mazaars are equivalent to idolatry. Hindus and other idol worshippers make statues of their favorite saints and worship them. Whereas many of us though we may be saying our prayers still go to mazaars and indulge in activities mentioned in the previous paragraph.
Further please remember that Allah has said that a mother loves her children the most but Allah loves His creations (human beings) 70 times more than the mother. Do we look for any waseelas when need our mother's help? Obviously not. Then why seek waseelas for contact with Allah.
Response:
I am delighted to read your very effective mention of Tauhid and its requirements. I totally agree with you that going to the Mazaars of saints is no different from idol worship. May the Almighty enable us all to have the wisdom to stay away from this biggest sin. I think the best way to let people realize the folly of getting into shirk is to encourage them to read the Qur'an which condemns shirk so effectively that there could be no better way of doing it. When we humans condemn shirk, people think that we are biased. When the Almighty does it, Muslims would hopefully pay heed to it.
