Allowance of Polygamy

Question:
Please advise how many marriages for men are allowed in Islam: four in a lifetime or maximum four at one time?

Response:
The maximum limit of the number of wives a person can have at any one time is four. If any one of them dies or is divorced, he is permitted to marry another lady, but he can never have more than four wives at a time.

The other condition imposed by the Qur'an is that the husband, in case he has more than one wives, should treat all of them as equally as possible - a very serious consideration.
