How Does Islam View Palmistry?

Do the lines on our hands have any significance or meaning, and is it permissible in Islam?

Answer

Palmists do claim that they can tell a person’s character and fortune by inspection of the palm of hand. However, it is only about the character that they can claim to have knowledge with some degree of certainty. Nobody can predict the future with certainty. It is only God Almighty Who knows for sure what’s going to happen tomorrow. It mentioned in surah Luqman, verse 34:
“Indeed Allah! With Him is knowledge of the Hour. He sends down the rain, and knows that which is in the wombs. No soul knows what it will earn tomorrow, and no soul knows in what land it will die. Indeed Allah is Knower, Aware.”
He does, however, let some people know about some events of the future in different ways.
I know of a few people, the lines on whose hands indicated one thing and the later events turned out the very opposite of them. For instance, an individual who had a long life-line died young, while another who had a short life-line played a long ‘innings’. Future predictions can only be done with certainty by the One Who knows about it with certainty. As for the character of an individual, there might be some truth in the claims of the palmists. However, some people also come to know about the character and past of others through the information passed on to them through jinns they are in contact with. For some experienced people an individual’s face can also be a very reliable indicator of his character.
